The History Behind Mainly You

The original building was built with bricks from the Deyman Brickyard during the 1870's for H.H. Hardiek. The business was later sold to Joseph H.J. Buenker, brother-in-law of Mr. Hardiek, and continued as a general merchandise business. Louis "Beanie" Buenker, son of Joseph H.J. Buenker, worked in the store after finishing 8th grade until the store was sold in 1934 after his father died. "Beanie" sold the business to Gus Hattrup who continued the general store until 1950 as Hattrup's Grocery.
